Is Watermelon A Tropical Fruit?

Watermelon is classified as a tropical fruit because of its origins in Africa. Early on it was also found to be cultivated in a number of other places across the world, such as India, Italy, and parts of Southern Asia. Ever since the Europeans initially introduced watermelon to America, it has become extremely popular and widespread throughout the continent.

There are a number of different types of watermelon, including yellow flesh, ice box, seedless, and Allsweet varieties. There are around 50 different varieties of watermelon which have come about over the years, though the above-mentioned ones are by far the most commonly seen.
