Is Salmon Dyed Pink?

In the wild salmon have a natural pink hue due to all of the crustaceans that they consume. On “fish farms”, the salmon are dyed pink with artificial colors because they are not fed crustaceans. You will find that whether you eat fresh or canned salmon, the outside skin is going to be a white color with the meat having a pinking tint to it.

It is highly recommended that anyone who eats salmon should not consume it raw as there can be a number of parasites and bacteria that can live in it. In order to get rid of these potentially harmful parasites you will need to make sure that you thoroughly cook or smoke your fish before eating it.
