Is Raw Salmon Safe During Pregnancy?

Pregnant women should try to avoid eating saw salmon if at all possible, just because it can contain parasites in the blood which can make you sick. These parasites can be harmful and even lethal to the person who ingests them as well as the unborn child.

It is highly recommended that all expecting mothers thoroughly cook or smoke their salmon before eating it in order to avoid ingesting any potentially harmful parasites which could have an adverse effect on the child when it is born or even while it is still in the womb. There are many different kinds of parasites and bacteria that live on raw fish, including salmon, so it is best to cook it all the way through before eating it.
