Is Mayonnaise A Good Fat?

Mayonnaise has both “good” and “bad” fat in it. The kind of fat that is bad for you is saturated fat which unfortunately mayonnaise has no shortage of. This is the type of fat which tends to raise cholesterol levels and contributes to weight gain. Mayonnaise also has what is known as hydrogenated oil which is a very bad type of fat which you will want to avoid altogether. These oils are particularly difficult for the body to break down and digest, so you will want to make sure to limit the amount of foods that you eat with those in it, including mayonnaise.

This condiment does however have both mono and polyunsaturated fats which are the healthy kinds of fats that your body needs to function properly. They can also help with lowering cholesterol levels and even reducing the risk of heart disease later on in life. Overall mayonnaise has both good and bad fats in it, but you will still need to make sure to moderate the amount that you eat on a regular basis in order to really stay healthy.
