Do Bananas Turn Black Faster In The Refrigerator?

Bananas turn brown faster if they are put inside a refrigerated environment; however the meat of it inside does not ripen any more than it usually would.

It is highly recommended that people who want to preserve ripened bananas put them in the freezer so they will be able to save them for a long period of time.

How it works is that the cold temperature that is given off by the refrigerator releases certain enzymes in the banana, specifically polyphenyl oxidase which leads to the fast browsing of the skin which you will notice if you put one in your fridge.
