Can Pecans Go Bad?

Pecans can go bad because they contain fat and should be stored properly. If you do not plan on using your pecans for a while it is highly recommended that you put them in the freezer so they will keep as long as you need them to.

Typically pecans and other types of nuts can be stored in the freezer for up to two years before they are no long edible, so you will not have to worry about them going bad. Ingesting spoiled or rancid pecans can cause certain health problems due to food poisoning so you will definitely want to carefully consider how you go about storing them and at what temperature you are keeping them at.
