Can Pears Have Pits?

Certain fruits are known for having hard pits in the center, which contain the seeds. These fruits are sometimes known as stone fruits, and some of the more common ones include peaches and plums. However, there are several other stone fruits as well.

But what about pears? Can pears have pits?

No, they cannot. Pears do not contain pits, but rather have a core of seeds very similar to an apple. This is in contrast to the hard pit of a fruit such as a peach. As with an apple, it’s best to avoid eating the core of a pear and to simply throw it out instead.
