Can Cantaloupe Be Frozen?

Cantaloupe can mostly definitely be frozen and it is highly recommended that you do put it in the freezer when getting it home from the super market, especially if you do not plan on eating it for a while. Those who freeze and then thaw their cantaloupe will find that the texture is much softer and not quite as rough.

By putting in either the freezer or refrigerator, you will be able to avoid contamination of microorganisms which can lead to a number of problems when ingested, such as diarrhea, vomiting, and upset stomach. Before you put your cantaloupe in the freezer though, you should slice it up into chucks and seal it in a bag where no air is going to get in so you can be sure that it will freeze thoroughly.
