Can Butter Evaporate?

Although it will usually take a long time for butter to evaporate if it is left out of the refrigerator, it can in fact disappear over time because of the fact that it is partially made up of water. Butter is primarily composed of fat though, so it is harder for it to evaporate as quickly as water or some other foods which are composed more so of water.

Anyone who leaves butter sitting out for too long will find that it will eventually evaporate, though it will not do so for a long time. It is highly recommended that you store the butter you bring home from the store in the refrigerator or freezer so you can avoid it spoiling which can lead to serious health problems if it is then ingested because of the bacteria that can grow on it.
