Can Broccoli Cause Diarrhea?

Well, in the strictest sense of the word, no. It cannot cause diarrhea, since diarrhea is caused by an intestinal infection or parasite rather than by what you eat. But you may get loose stool. This is the effect of an unbalanced diet that is, perhaps, too high in fiber.

High-fiber vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, carrots, peas, cabbage, and artichokes may cause these painful complications for some people, but others may not be effected at all. While a diet high in fiber is often encouraged, remember that moderation is always the best choice. If you find an excess of fruits and vegetables is causing cramping, gas, or diarrhea, there is an easy fix. Just cut back.
