Are Grapes Poisonous to Dogs?

Dogs sure love “people food”, and for the most part there’s no harm in giving your pet some of your food as a treat. However it is well known that certain foods, such as chocolate, can be harmful or even deadly for dogs to eat.

But what about grapes? Are grapes bad for dogs to eat?

Unfortunately, the answer seems to be a resounding yes.

The Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) has determined that grapes are extremely toxic to dogs, and can lead to severe problems such as acute renal failure or even death.

The estimated lethal dose of grapes for a dog is approximately 32 grams of grapes for each kilogram of weight, however problems such as acute renal failure can occur at much lower doses.
