Are Blueberries Frost Tolerant?

Some plants can be ruined and stop producing fruit at the first sign of frost, while others can withstand quite cold temperatures and still produce viable fruit. Knowing which plants are frost tolerant and which are not can be very important if you live in a climate which is prone to very cold or fluctuating weather conditions.

So what about blueberries? Are blueberries frost tolerant?

Well, it depends on what part of the growing cycle they are in!

Blueberry plants go dormant for part of the year, and during this stage they are quite hardy to cold temperatures. However, a blueberry plant which is actively producing fruit will not stand up so well to frost and cold temperatures.
