Can Asparagus Cause Diarrhea?

For some people eating asparagus is not a very good idea because of the fact that it can cause problems with diarrhea as well as gas and bloating. Because this vegetable is so rich in sulfur it has been known to cause diarrhea for some people. Some of the other foods that can lead to gastrointestinal problems include fruits like watermelon and avocado well as broccoli, spinach, mustard, watercress, yams, and tomatoes.

Certain people who eat some of these foods may experience gas or diarrhea as the direct result of intestinal bacterial fermentation which can be quite frustrating and in some cases painful. If you experience diarrhea after eating asparagus, it is highly recommended that you avoid eating it altogether or at least cut down on the amount you eat on a regular basis.
